Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is VPN and how does OpenVPN work?
A:VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are secure
"tunnels" running over the Internet that connect computers
in a secure manner such that the connected computers and applications
treats the VPN as if it were a LAN (local area network). VPN connections
uses strong encryption protocols that make it very difficult to
decode the encrypted traffic.
OpenVPN is a free and open source software
application that implements virtual private network (VPN) solutions
for creating very strong encrypted connections using industry
standard encryption algorithms such as symmetrical Blowfish and
AES encryption algorithms.

Q: How does OpenVPN anonymize and encrypt my internet traffic?
By routing your internet traffic through our OpenVPN servers, your whole internet traffic becomes anonymous and encrypted. As soon as you connect to one of our OpenVPN server your computer is assigned a new IP address which is owned by us, not your ISP. Then all of your Internet traffic is encrypted and is tunneled to our VPN server. Once there, it is decrypted and allowed to travel to its intended destination. Your local ISP will only see a single encrypted data stream between you and our VPN server. Your ISP can no longer monitor, log or control your Internet usage.
Q: What kind of encryption
are you using? Can it be cracked?
A:We are using 2048 bit OpenVPN, 2048 bit
SSH-2 (Secure Shell 2), and 2048 bit SSL/TLS respectively, network
and a tunneling protocols that allow data to be exchanged over a
secure channel between your PC and our server. They are based on
public-key cryptography to authenticate the remote computer and
provides improved security through Diffie-Hellman key exchange and
strong integrity checking via MACs. We are using AES-256 encryption
to protect the confidentiality of the data. The cipher was developed
by two Belgian cryptographers, Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen. The
algorithm has been analyzed extensively and is now used worldwide.
As of 2011, no attacks that attack the underlying cipher itself
have ever been found. As OpenVPN uses strong AES encryption, the
time needed to decrypt an encrypted traffic rises exponentially
as the length of the encryption key increases. If the traffic had
been encrypted with a 64-bit key, it would take around 12,000 computers
on average 60 years to crack a single traffic.
Q: Do you offer PPTP VPN?
A: No, we do not offer PPTP VPN because there are many known attacks on PPTP and it is less secure compared to OpenVPN. In addition, PPTP can be blocked easily by ISP's firewalls and Deep Packet Inspection devices in constrast to OpenVPN which is difficult to block since it can be configured to run on port 80 and 443.

include our secure and anonymous offshore servers. Please note that
it is strictly forbidden to use the non P2P servers for P2P file
sharing. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(DMCA), we have adopted a policy to block any P2P traffic on the
DNS level on the affected servers.
Q: What is the speed of your servers?
Will the connection be slower?
A:We currently sustain a multitude
of servers with a bandwidth of 100 mbps to 1,000 mbps each. Most
of our servers are high-speed servers with an unshared and dedicated
bandwidth of 100 mbps to 1 gbps with plenty or unlimited traffic,
well capable to carry broadband traffic. If you are interested in
testing the speed of our servers from your location
before placing order, we do offer a static file download speed test.
To download a static file from your server of interest, please click
here
to go to our speed test page. Please note
that when connected to OpenVPN, the actual speed will be less than
the normal speed due to encryption and latency related issues. You
should generally expect up to 50% drop in speed when connected to
the OpenVPN server.
Q: Are there Bandwidth limits?
A:We do not have any bandwidth
limits. You are allowed to use as much bandwidth as you can. You
are also allowed to download 24/7, stream media or use VOIP without
any bandwidth limitations.

instructions and usage details in
the setup

OpenVPN server should I use?
A:The best OpenVPN
server for you depends on where you are physically located. In order
to get best connection speeds, ensure that you are connected to
the closest OpenVPN server location of your choice. The nearer you
are to the OpenVPN server, the better the speed. You can significantly
improve your OpenVPN speed by connecting to the OpenVPN server which
is nearer to you. ie in the same country or close to your country.
Sometimes it may be necessary to switch to another server location
if you experience significant speed loss which can result from server
overload or network issues.
Q: What protocols and
data can I encrypt and anonymize with Anonyproz OpenVPN?
